I knew "the question" was coming so I hit up Chris to how we would handle it. Caely came and asked for a sleep over and when we realized it was at the friends house it made it easier to say yes.
Not long after, Patch came running in to ask for a sleep over. Ugh. I have not looked forward to this day. The kid is afraid of everything. I don't think people fathom how it is to have a kid who is so terrified all the time. He didn't want to come outside while I was putting dirt in the garden because there were scary looking trees and other things. He didn't want to stay inside because he'd be alone and there are noises. How was this kid going to survive at a friends house overnight?
I went over and talked with the parents and we decided they'd keep the girls and I'd take the boys. I hate sleepovers. We got them all settled in for a movie and the tv off timer and then Chris and I tried to go to bed early.
During the movie Patch was already freaking out about how many lights could stay on all night. Then after the movie the boys showed up upstairs and we put them in Patch's room. Surprisingly they went to sleep and both made it through the night without tears or bad dreams.
I'm glad Patch finally got his first sleepover.
