If you know me well, you know I'm not one to celebrate my birthday. My poor husband and my friends have the hardest time every year trying to spoil me while also trying to respect that I just wish my birthday never existed. This post seams really long but I just want to remember all the wonderful people and things that made me feel special for my birthday.
This year I had a goal to embrace my birthday. I couldn't try to hide it or have any expectations, good or bad. I just had to take it as it was and try to celebrate (or let others celebrate) me.
It was probably the best birthday I've ever had. I hate saying that for fear I'm offending other birthdays. Thursday I went on my "Birthday 1/2 Marathon", I ran with Shauna and Alison and it was a great run. The sun was shining, the weather was nice, the company is always great. I felt good and I finished feeling good.
Friday I woke up early to get ready for the day because I had to close up book fair at the kids school. While I was showering the kids and Chris decorated the house for me. It was so cute. The girls spent an afternoon at Teresa's making me a birthday present. It was this over-sized card full of yummy candy bars. I was extremely touched. I could tell they worked really hard on it. I also had a couple of texts from my dear friends wishing me a happy birthday.
I had wanted to pick up Dunford Doughnuts (my favorite!) before I left for school but I ran out of time. I got to the school and my friend, Tiffany had a dt. Pepsi IV waiting and some Cadbury Eggs. She also made me muffins. Too sweet!
Tyler was asleep when I left so he sent me the sweetest text wishing a happy birthday. I can't believe how thoughtful my kids are!
After the book fair Shauna and I took a trip to Costco. Shauna just came to hang out, which I didn't realize, she didn't even need anything. While we were there Patch told me I needed flowers for my birthday so he helped me pick out a bouquet and then told me that was his present to me. What a funny kid.
After Costco I got home to dozens of emails and phone messages. Hung out with Patch and then Shauna took me to birthday lunch.
When I got home from school, Teresa came in with her kids and my girls and they sang me a silly birthday song. It was really sweet and it was fun to see my nieces. I'm really enjoying seeing them more often. My kids kept wishing me happy birthday and tried their best to be good and not argue. They did a great job.
My brother surprised me with a gas station drink on his way home from work and let me talk his ear off about nothing.
My sister and her family and my mom called and sang me the funniest birthday song. It was so thoughtful.
Chris took me to dinner and bought me a church piano book I had been wanting. It's beautiful! It has all kinds of songs and illustrations to go with it. He also got me "Born To Run" a book everyone has been telling me I need to read.
We were going to play games with Jim and Teresa but I was feeling extra tired and I haven't felt 100% this week so we ditched them and I fell asleep before 10pm!
Such a great day! When I woke up Saturday morning I asked Chris if it could be my birthday again.
