It's Been One Of Those Days

I realize daily how blessed I am to have the husband and kids I have. They really are amazing! My kids are so well behaved and obedient (for the most part). They get along well...most the time. They help around the house and play with each other. We have lots of fun at our house.

Today I decided to clean. That was my first mistake. I start with the bathrooms because they are so dang gross. Then I'm just grumpy that my family can't find clean up their gross messes or put a brush away.

Then on to the girls room. I had asked them four times to clean it "like Saturday cleaning" which means dressers are organized and closets cleaned out and the room gets vacuumed. By the fifth time I'm ready to scream. I have to step back and realize they are not as OCD as I am about things.

My second mistake...I helped the girls clean their rooms. I pulled the clothes from their drawers and refolded them, pulled out the "too small" clothes to make room. I found out that Alexa is a pack rat! She had 7 grocery bags of junk. This is her way of cleaning. She just puts everything, including garbage, in these sacks and stacks them up and calls that clean. So then we had to go through all the sacks and organize all the junk she's collected. They both have books coming out of EVERYWHERE! Under mattresses, in closets (there are three closets in their room), in bags and bags, on dressers. FOR REAL!

I just wanted a clean house. For their sanity and mine, I'm going to stop the cleaning for the day because I realize my kids are going to go back and read this post when they're older and think that was funny because that's what their kids do. And one day I might laugh at this post too, because really, they are amazing kids and I don't need to be so crazy about a little mess.

So for now I'm going to put up my feet and drink a dt. Coke. For one day, dt. Coke will save the world!

haha - the word verification at the bottome of this comment box is "copemoid". very funny.

Anywhooo, I hope the dt coke helped. The only time I can really help my kids in their rooms is if I go in with the assumption that NOTHING will be where it's supposed to, and they will be my fetch and carry as I tell them where things go.

And then I also have the assumption that it will remain clean for approximately one hour.

I 100% agree with chemicals over calories because that is what is getting me through the day or probably what is causing my grumpiness.

So today is Sat and it is cleaning day like you just described. Good luck to me because I'm about to dive into corners and hidden spaces all the same!
