Ragnar 2011

This year I ran on my neighbors team, OB/G Y am I running?

A couple of friends and their husbands were in my van, the other van was my neighbor and some of his family.

We started out bright and early Friday morning. I left my house at 6:15am to head to our drivers house. We got there, finished loading up the car and took off up to Ogden to drop off their kids and then on to Logan for the start of the race. About an hour into the right, one of the kids got car sick...on me and Amie! It was actually pretty funny. We thankfully had blankets right there and so all was well.

The kids were passed off and we were on our way!
We got to check in early, so we got to check out all the other vans coming to the start. I thought one of the coolest vans was the Angry Birds van.
Karolynn started us out as the first runner. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Every one did really well on their first leg, despite some heat rising and hard, dirty hills.
I was runner 6, so the last one in our van. My leg was 7 miles, 1 up hill and 6 down on mostly rocky, dirty road. I think I ate about 15lbs of dirt kicked up by the cars driving by.
The last quarter mile they gave out sombrero's and a free meal to Cafe Rio if you ran the whole last part of the leg. Woo hoo! Cafe Rio!!
I had an 8.2 miler up hill in the middle of the night. It was freezing and I was beat, but I did it and made good time. We camped out at a high school after that, I slept in the car.

My last let was 3.1 miles of up and down hill/slant. It was really easy and nice to finish on such a peaceful leg. I felt great after and was ready for more. Probably because I knew I was done.

We waited at the finish line for our other van. Tried to do some sleeping, walked around and enjoyed the very cool breeze blowing.

Richard got kidnapped by one of our friends team and dressed as a barbie. I guess since he was wearing a dress, the rest of the boys thought they could try and deliver a baby!

Such a fun team.
Lot's of good times, little sleep and sore legs. Thankful it's done but looking forward to other races!

I'm so glad you had a fun race! I can't believe how many people I know were running that this year. I'm holding strong and not buying into this running fad :)

You know I'm crazy jealous right? Not necessarily of the races. Just that passion for running...

Anyway, great job! I can't wait to hear about it on Tuesday!!!
