A Vent On Manners

Tonight we took the family to dinner for our anniversary to celebrate. We reminded our kids to use their restaurant manners and for the most part, they do a great job.

The table behind us seemed to have forgotten theirs.

There was a boy about 3 that stood on his seat the WHOLE time. He kept turning around, yelling, screaming, burping, touching, the list goes on. At one point the mom grabbed him and smacked him, poor kid.

The other mother there was allowing a young child to pull her hair. Both mothers did nothing.

I struggled knowing how to handle the situation. This was not McDonald's and they should not have behaved as such. I was there to spend a nice evening with my family in celebration. I so very much wanted to walk over to their table and ask them to fix their disturbance. I didn't. I know the boy was little, and I have an understanding for that. It was the mother and her behavior and the allowance of the little boys behavior that I was frustrated with.

Not sure where I'm going with this, just that I was frustrated.

That's such a tough situation. I don't know how I would react either. I guess maybe ask for another seat away from the problem. It's unfortunate that parents don't take their kids out and remind them of dining out manners. I hope your family managed to have a nice time even though the obnoxious family was so close.
