So, I'm almost done with the Christmas shopping. I figured the sooner I finish, the sooner I can focus on what really matters. It doesn't seem to be going that way.
I told Chris the other day that we still need to see Santa, go to Gardner Village to see the elves, start the pile of Christmas stories we have and still haven't gotten to, see the lights on Temple Square, take the kids shopping for each other, the list goes on.
How can you feel the Christmas Spirit when you're bogged down with intentionals that seem to be going nowhere?
My Aunt and Uncle sent our family this cute Nativity set to put together. Last night for Family Home Evening, instead of doing one of the things on our list, we built the Nativity.

It was so nice to pull together and do a project. I just listened to my kids laugh and watched them help each other out. We played Christmas music and watched Patch dance. That was so much nicer than trying to squeeze in all the things we (I) think make the holidays nice. Thank goodness for Aunts and Uncles that send fun stuff!

I constantly find myself getting caught up in the mentality that if something isn't a big production (like go see the lights, gardner village, nutcracker...), then it doesn't count. I need to take a lesson from this simple activity your family did and try to remember that it is the little moments that make it feel like Christmas.
So true, so true.. my friend. This season we have connected more watching a Christmas movie on T.V. and making this little garland project I picked up at Target for $2. Seriously.. this is what true Christmas is all about. All the other is... just bonus extra if you're up to it!
Merry Christmas and I can't wait to see you on Tues..
