Keystone State

It's time for 5th grade state reports. Tyler got Pennsylvania and we've found out some pretty cool stuff, including the story of a 50yr old burning fire under Centralia, Pennsylvania that's STILL burning.

Tyler's oral report was due today and one of my good friends attends all her kids stuff like this so I thought I'd take her example and do the same. Plus, my kids love it when mom comes.
I hauled Chris, Patch and Alexa in to watch him and as he was getting ready, he found his notes were missing. Of course panic set in, poor kid. I asked him if he wanted to do it tomorrow or try from memory (since he had practiced all weekend), he decided to try from memory.

His teacher was so kind and sympathetic, she offered to prompt him if he missed any key information. *for all you A-track 5th graders next year, you really want Mrs. K.

He did AMAZING! I am so proud of him, he didn't stumble once. It made it sound much more interesting to not having him looking down, trying to find his spot. He remembered everything! Looks like practice does make perfect.
I think he felt good about the job he did, and I'm still feelin' like a proud momma.

That's great that he did so well without his notes. I'm super impressed.

I think I complained way too much about doing the state report and not enough enjoying about what I COULD HAVE learned about Arkansas if I just gave the assignment a chance! You think my stress is leaking onto my kid?

I think so.

Good job Tyler and those are some pretty interesting things about the keystone state I never knew about!
