There are two naughty friends I run with who think it's a great idea to run the full, but I've always said I had no desire to run a marathon. It's too far. It's too long. It's too painful. It's just too...
And yet they keep pushing.
And then I stupidly think, "maybe, I could do it"
"if the biggest loser people can do it, then I totally can"
"that's really far, do I really want to run 26.2 miles???"
So, one of these naughty friends and I were running/talking, and I'm about to get the courage to tell her that I'm about finalized in my decision that a marathon is definitely doable, but I just don't think I'm interested.
It's not that I really feel that way, I'm just a chicken and need LOTS of pushing.
As I bring it up to her, before I can even get anything out, she casually says, "oh yeah, by the way, I signed you up!"
WHAT????
This was yesterday. I'm still in shock. I. am. running. 26.2 miles. in 5 months!
What kind of friend does that????? How audacious. How nervy. How trusting. How faithful. How uplifting to know this friend believes in me and knows me enough to give me the push I need.
So now, I believe in myself (at least today I do) that I can do this.
Come to find out, she didn't really sign me up when she said she did, she was just testing me and what a test. She signed me up after she saw my response, and I'm glad she did.
Today I say BRING IT ON!
