I know, lame title. I'll try to think of a better one later.
Saturday, Tyler went to the park with some friends. I guess a friend ran into him and he jammed his knee on a metal pole. I didn't realize how bad it was, but he had a good bump and bruising on it. He was limping all Sunday.
Monday night he had a hockey game. He was still sore but of course he wanted to play. Tyler got checked hard, his knee pad slipped and he hit the boards with his knee, straight on. Same, bruised knee. He was hurting pretty bad. They carried him off the ice, but he was out the next shift.
Tuesday night he had another game. He still was limping at home but wanted to play. During the second period he had the puck and was skating to get around some guys and a kid stuck his knee out, hitting Tyler knee on knee. Tyler went down and he was done. His coach wouldn't let him play the rest of the game.
I took him into the insta-care Tuesday night after the game for x-rays. The dr. wrapped him up and put him on crutches for the rest of the week, with ibuprofen as a constant for the next three days.
Tyler went to a Halloween party on Wednesday and came home with his whole leg swollen. His ankle looked hilarious! We had him rest, a lot.
Friday night was the start of the Park City tournament. Tyler got cleared to play, got out on the ice for warm ups and opted not to play. He was still hurting too bad. Saturday morning he had a game and felt fine enough to play in. They had their first win of the season!! He played the rest of the weekend, was sore and swollen but he's fine.
He's fine and back to normal, and now that we have crutches, all the other kids seem to have new ailments. Oh boy! Here we go!
