Workin' Hard For the Money

I started working a little over a month ago. I'm really enjoying my job, probably because I work so few hours. It was scary at first because it's been so long since I've worked, plus my kids were going off track right when I was starting.

There have been a few snags and conflicts but they seem to work out and I'm getting the hang of balancing my schedule better.

Patch has said a few times over the last month, that he doesn't want me to work. I didn't realize how this was affecting him until the other night when he kept saying he gave me all his money. I was trying to explain to him that he gave me his money because he bought candy at the store with my money and had to pay me back, as per our agreement.

He then said, "no mom, I put all my dollars in your heart box" (which is where I keep extra dollars incase the toothfairy doesn't have any). I went and looked and Patch had put five, $1 bills in my heart box.

I asked him why and through his tears he said, "because, I don't want you to have to work". What a little sweetheart!

I hugged him, thanked him and told him I liked working and that it was good for me and our family. I gave him back his dollars and hopefully helped him feel better about the whole thing.

Patch also has been leaving me little notes that say, "I love you" all over my bed or near my purse. I love finding these little surprises and I've been trying to send him little notes back.

I love that my kids are so thoughtful.
