We made a deal with our kids that if they wanted something expensive they have to save 1/2 the money and we'll sport the other half. They also have to tell us ahead of time what their goal is so that we can help encourage them to reach it. I think Chris and I also figured they wouldn't be patient enough to reach their goal any time soon.
We are so proud of Caely! She saved her money for about 3 years and finally saved up enough birthday, Christmas and babysitting money to help purchase an iPod Touch.
She picked the white one and loves that she can put a lock code on it so the siblings can't get in to it. Boy have they tried!
I think because of her example the others are more determined to save their pennies and finally make their goals.
