You Can Do Hard Things

Those are the word Shauna said to me the first time I was running up this horrid hill near the library. I'm sure I've told everyone this story, but it still holds strong in my heart every time I run that hill. It brings me strength even on a bad run day to conquer that hill.

I don't like doing hard things, their hard and most the time it's work. Okay, I didn't used to like to do hard things but now I know I have the strength within to do them, no matter how hard. We all do.

You know when you do something and end up feeling good or loving and want to give that to the world?

I just started really reading my scriptures, I look forward to it every day and sometimes throughout the day I look for moments when I can steal a few extra minutes to read a little more. It's this goal I'm trying to accomplish before my birthday, but I didn't realize the joy it would bring me in doing it. Now I want to give that to the world. I want to tell everyone how reading their scriptures will bring them joy, knowledge and closeness with our Heavenly Father. It was hard to find the motivation to keep reading or even find the time, but once I committed I am loving it.

I also wish I could give the joy of running and exercise to my friends and family who don't do it. It's been three years now and I still love it! It was SO hard, especially the first few months. Then it was hard because I was adding more miles. Now some days are harder than others but I love the feeling that I can do it. I can go slow or fast, I can be social and go with friends or use it as an outlet to a stressful day. It doesn't cost me money and brings me strength.

I CAN DO HARD THINGS! and so can you!
