Wet, Wet, Wet!

A couple weeks ago some friends invited us for the weekend to do some camping and boating at Yuba Lake for this last weekend. We gathered things and did laundry Thursday night, then started packing up the car Friday morning to head out.

We had gone to Seven Peaks and Murray Pool the few days before we were leaving and Tyler got a nasty burn, he missed his collar bone and shoulders when putting on sunscreen. As we were getting ready to go, Tyler was hurting so bad, he couldn't even put on a shirt.

We called Chris' parents to see if T could spend the weekend with them to keep him out of the heat and sun. They were thankfully around and willing!

When we got to our site, the wind was crazy! It was blowing so hard and kicking sand everywhere. The water was so high, the beach entry was missing and washing away into cliffs of sand. I was totally stressing, I could imagine three days of sand in my mouth and eyes.

Jack and Raimonda headed over to another site to check and see if was any better. Here's the miracle...they had TWO campsites left AND they were right next to each other! I swear, angels were watching.

We put up camp as quick as we could, the kids were dying to get in the water. The air was burning and the water was freezing!

Chris was brave enough to get out on the wake-board. I had no idea he was so awesome, seeing as he is not a big fan of water activities.
Saturday Jack pulled out the tube and took the kids for rides.
Caely was an animal! She kept going faster and flipping around everywhere, but she loved it.
Patch and Alexa were a little more mellow. Every little bump made them nervous, but they had a lot of fun and kept asking for more.
Alexa braved trying water skiing, just to fall in some rocks before she could really get started. I'm so proud of her for trying.
I have only been water skiing a couple times in my life and I've always been really slow to get up, just to be too tired to really do some skiing. Jack is such a great teacher! I got up on my first try but immediately let go of the rope because I wasn't sure what to do once I got up. I flopped trying to get up again, but then I was up and running.

Caely then decided it was her turn to water ski. She had a hard time getting up the first two times, but third times the charm and she stayed up forever! On one of her other turns, she ended up skiing for almost 20 minutes. I'm telling you, she's an animal!!
After a long, hot, sore but fun weekend in the sun, it was time to head back to reality. We missed Tyler a ton and hope he gets to catch the next trip.
