The Red Rock Pack

We just had a marvelous weekend in Moab. The race was as awesome as expected. We rolled in Friday, set up camp, picked up our Red Rock stuff and settled in for a nice quiet evening.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for the race! Shauna and I headed to the starting line to meet our friends and we were off.

Every one did such a great job. My first leg was 5.5 miles of up hill. I'm not gonna lie, the first 1/2 mile was a killer. I kept thinking, "well, at least the hardest leg will be over and no one else will have to endure hills like this". Man was I wrong! The next few runners had it way worse than I did, but they were amazing! It was such an accomplishing feeling to know your body and mind can fight through hard things.

My second leg was 7.4 miles, the first mile was more hill for me to climb but then it turned to crazy steep downhill. I was cruizin'! My toes kept kicking the tip of my shoe and each mile I kept thinking, "man, I'm going hurt tomorrow". It was worth it! I did get a little toasted on my runs. Should'da brought the sunblock.

*You like my nice hair

Our families met us at the finish line. It was so fun to have Chris there with my kids. I really appreciate his support.

I also really liked only doing two legs and finishing in the same day with plenty of sleep. It's going to become harder and harder to choose which races to do if they keep making them so fun!

Definitely looking at going next year, but with so many fun friends we may have to put together a few more teams to go with.
