I decided to let them pick a fun song to play, that's when the memories hit.
My mom used to take me to Day Murray Music to look at piano pieces. I remember being worried the songs I pick would be too hard. I loved looking through everything and hated putting back pieces but we couldn't buy it all. I would get two or three songs, I know my mom was really being generous getting more than one song, things were tight and you can't eat music.
I would play for hours. I loved the piano. I still love the piano. I think my desire to continue playing was because I got to pick these fun songs.
As I let my kids pick, I could see the renewed excitement for their lessons to start back up this week. Tyler was even the first to try to play his new song, Viva la Vida by Cold Play.
I'm so thankful for music and for my mom and her encouragement in playing the piano. I hope my kids love it as much as I do one day.
