East Side Snob

It's a well known fact that I love the east side of Utah. I love the mountains and all the mature trees. I love the schools. I love the way I feel as I drive up the canyon, like I'm headed toward the sky. I love looking west, down upon the valley. I love the old homes and the old parks w/ swings and metal slides. I just love the east side!

We've lived out west for over 5yrs. now, and I feel like since we've gotten here, all I think about is how I can get back to the east side. Everyone complains that there's no easy freeway access, and that it takes forever to get to our house. All the houses around us are newer, and the trees are little. Everything is very cookie-cutter like, with no personality.

Here's my little secret. In the last few months I've come to appreciate where I live. I have the most amazing friends and neighbors (they grow on both sides of the valley, who knew). My kids go to a fabulous school with lots of parent support. It's flat w/ slight rolling hills, but that's great for my running. It's less expensive! Even the gas is cheaper (by pennies).

No, I don't have easy freeway access, but everywhere I lived in Sandy took 10 minutes to an on ramp, same as here. The trees will continue to grow and be just as beautiful. And every time I head to the east side, I get that euphoric feeling of a long lost home that I like to return to, but I'm just as happy to return to my beautiful home on the west side.

I may always carry a little east side snobbishness with me, but I truly do love my west side home.

Everyone I grew up with figures I've gone WAY out west since I'm below 2300 East. I guess I'm considered a southeast dweller now. It was the sticks when I was growing up.

I love the snobbiness Emily! All my friends that live out there on the west think that coming to visit me is so so far too!! I'm glad you are loving your new old home.. You are what makes it a great place to be!

I always tease Adam that he had to drag me to the west side once we were married, since it was less expensive. I grew up in Sandy too. Now I love it except that I'm not right by the canyons anymore. I LOVE being in the canyons!

West Side!!!!!!!!

Just had to get a lame shout out for the West side lifers here. We're glad you're here, who the heck would be my NEXT DOOR neighbor if you left? No one as awesome that's for sure.

Oh and the snobbiness, it grows on ya. Ha ha! Love ya!

I'm glad that you finally made peace with your address. That wasn't so painful, now, was it? For what it's worth, you are missed over here. And I don't think that seeing you once a month is enough.

You are such an inspiration to me, and I appreciate you so much.
