Updates

Okay, so yesterday morning I went for my last run of the month. It started out at a regular pace, I was just heading up to meet my friends so I wasn't in any hurry or anything. It turned out that one of our friends decided he needed a little more sleep and didn't make it, so Shauna and I headed out. Since I needed to get back early to take my mom for her surgery (updated later in the post), we were just going to go 2+ miles and head home. I started telling Shauna that I hadn't had a run all of July under 4 miles, and it would be disappointing to not finish that goal. You know what that meant! We decided we needed to run a little faster so I could get home in time and still make my goal. We ended up with an amazing run. It felt great and it was so accomplishing to complete my goal of 100+ miles for the month and my other random goal of running more than 4 miles each run.

Okay, for my mom. I took off early with my two babies in tow and headed out to pick up my mom. When I got there, I found that she had fallen AGAIN! on her broken shoulder. The poor woman! We got to the hospital, she was re-x-rayed and found that she didn't break anything else thankfully, but she popped her broken bone back into place which actually would help in the surgery. She was supposed to be discharged same day, so while we waited I took Patch and Alexa up to the zoo. It was such a nice day. Teresa and my nieces met us there and we enjoyed seeing the new baby giraffe, born the day before. We also got to see the baby snow leopard. After the zoo we called to see how my mom was doing, and the doctor had decided to keep her overnight just to make sure her pain was being managed. Otherwise, she went through with flying colors and is on the road to recovery, thank you all for your prayers. I am headed this morning to pick her up and have her come stay with me for a few days to make sure she is being fed and staying comfortable, plus it will be nice for her to have some family around. My kids love being with grandma.

It's August 1st and I am so glad today fell on a Saturday, it gave a great start to my running calendar for the month. Shauna and I went for a long run this morning. I told her to pick the route this time, I didn't want to know how far we were going to much in advance, or I psych myself out. She made the grand plan to run to the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was awesome! We've been meaning to go for a while, and had quite a few interruptions. The morning breeze was really nice, it was just the perfect morning to run. It reaffirms the gratitude I have for my body and my desire to be fit. Last summer there was no way I would be able to go even 1/2 a mile without panting and begging to walk for a few minutes. I just encourage everyone to find something that helps them feel so accomplished. If I can do it, anyone can!
