Car's and Calkins Don't Mix

My sister called last night to tell us my 8yr. old nephew, S got hit by a car. I'm still not sure on all the details, but as far as I know he's going to be fine. My brother-in-law said he was riding his bike by his school and was hit by a mini-van. He wasn't wearing a helmet, so he sustained a blow to the head and the handle bars hit him pretty good. He has a slight fracture on his skull and fluids in his belly, so they are keeping him another night to make sure there is no internal bleeding. The doctors seem confident that it's not serious.
Please keep them in your prayers. I'm sure my sister is stressed despite the confidence of the doctor, I know I am/would be.

PLEASE have your babies wear their helmets.

Tyler is at such a difficult age, in that he wants to be cool and look cool. Helmets mess up his hair and I have found recently I have been more relaxed in making him wear his. I was SO strict on this up until this last spring, but I now am reminded how important it is ~ no matter what your age.
